Texas Southern University hired WNBA Hall of Famer Cynthia Cooper in April to lead the Lady Tigers. Cooper is no stranger to Houston. She was one of the star players for the former Houston Comets in the 90s. Cooper, Sheryl Swoopes, Kim Perrot and Tina Thompson dominated the WNBA and won the league’s first four championships in the late 90s and early 2000s. TSU marks her third head coaching position at NCAA Division I level. She was first hired at Prairie View A&M University and later at University of North Carolina-Wilmington.
